As a dedicated and compassionate counsellor, my mission is to provide support to individuals on their journey towards mental and emotional well-being. With a wealth of experience, I am committed to establishing a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can openly and comfortably discuss the challenges in their lives. My passion lies in supporting clients in navigating and overcoming difficulties such as anxiety, stress, depression and low-self esteem.
My qualifications include a Level 5 Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. I am also a qualified Hypnotherapist which gives me flexibility in my approach when supporting clients.
To ensure I work ethically, I am a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society. I follow the Ethical Framework for Good Practice for both organisations.
As a counsellor, and hypnotherapist, I attend regular supervision, and this supports both my professional and personal development. I also hold professional indemnity insurance.
I have come to counselling and hypnotherapy later in my career, having spent 20+ years supporting children and families. This gave me a passion for helping people, as well as lots of transferrable skills.
As a counsellor and hypnotherapist, my aim is to provide a warm and comfortable environment where you feel safe to explore the issues that are affecting your life. Empathy, respect and a space free from judgement will help you unpick those issues and enable you to thrive and achieve your goals.
Embarking on your counselling journey takes courage, I am here to provide guidance, support, and encouragement as we navigate your challenges. In our counselling sessions, I am committed to creating an environment where you will feel not only heard but valued and respected in your unique journey and for who you are.
As a pluralistic / integrative counsellor I am able to provide a tailored approach for my clients, ensuring they get the 'right fit'. I recognise that everyone is individual, with different needs and this tailored approach will ensure you are in the driving seat and able to achieve what you want from our sessions.
Therapy is not a magic cure, but will provide an environment where clients feel safe to explore the issues they want to change.
I am able to use different approaches and, these will depend on what the client wants to work on. Examples of these are:
Person Centred Approach - this underpins my practice and means that, as my client, your needs are at the core of our work. This allows clients to lead the direction of their sessions. I recognise that clients have the ability to grow and change, given the right conditions. Our sessions will support you to unravel the tangle of thoughts and emotions, to find the direction that is right for you.
As such I don’t offer direct advice or give my opinions. I create a warm and welcoming space, that offers, empathy, unconditional understanding and genuineness, free of judgement, to help you find your way forward and achieve the personal growth you desire.
Psychodynamic Approach - this enables me to support you to explore your past, helping you see how some of those past experiences may be affecting how you feel, and behave in the here and now. Sometimes these are childhood experiences that may have been traumatic. Clients are able to see that negative cycles and patterns are learnt from early life experiences.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - this is a useful approach that can be used for clients, sometimes after they have explored their past and have a better understanding of themselves. Many clients, at this point, are ready to set goals for the future. As my client, you may want to challenge negative thought processes to help you change how you think or respond, in the here and now or, you may want to change your life and look at the barriers that are stopping you doing this.
These three approaches create a flexible space where the past can be explored and changes for the future can be made.
Hypnotherapy can be used as a separate intervention or, can be combined within a counselling approach.
Hypnotherapy involves using techniques to relax your body and conscious mind to enable access your sub-conscious. This is where the change can happen.
This form of therapy can be very successful in improving lots of issues including, weight management, anxiety, stress, phobia, improving confidence, smoking cessation, plus lots of others.
Hypnotherapy is therapy achieved using the medium of hypnosis. I achieve this by using a Progressive Muscle Relaxation process to completely relax your body and a Deepener to relax your conscious mind. This allows access to the sub-conscious mind which is where all our memories and experiences are stored. By using various techniques including suggestion and visualization you are able to make the changes you want to make.
This 10 session Anxiety Busting Package is a flexible approach that uses counselling to explore the root causes of anxiety, hypnotherapy to manage these feelings and, CBT to tackle automatic negative thoughts and behaviours and set goals for the future.
This flexible approach is very effective in supporting clients who struggle with feelings of anxiety on a day to day basis.
What to expect from the Package:
Session 1 - Information gathering, assessment and conceptualisation
Session 2 - Psych Education - What is anxiety? and introduction hypnotherapy session
Session 3 - Counselling - exploring the root cause of feelings of anxiety
Session 4 - Hypnotherapy Session
Session 5 - CBT - How thoughts are linked to feelings and behaviours
Session 6 - Hypnotherapy Session
Session 7 - CBT - addressing negative automatic thoughts and behaviours
Session 8 - Hypnotherapy Session
Session 9 - CBT - Goal setting and removing barriers to achieve
Session 10 - Hypnotherapy
Further sessions can be arranged, if required.
I always suggest starting with a chat about the issues you want to address. To do this, I offer an initial chat, free of charge, to enable you to find out more about the process and decide whether it's for you.
Cost of sessions:
Counselling - £55 per session
Hypnotherapy - £60 per session
All sessions are between 50 - 60 minutes and are delivered online via Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp or any other online platform.
Cancellations can be made up to 48 hours before at no cost.
Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will be charged at full price.
